2024

I’ve organized my 2024 paintings into five ongoing collections: Clocking Out, The Sun Might Never Set, Group Shower, Machines that Breathe, and Portraits

Clocking Out

An ongoing series of figurative paintings exploring how entertainment and technology effect relationships in today’s world.

The Sun Might Never Set

Paintings that attempt to capture the moment before sunset when the world stands still.

Group Shower

In August 2023, I spent a week focusing my time on making drawings with charcoal. I wanted my compositions. to spontaneously arise through repetition of organic shapes that had figurative qualities. Motifs of shower heads and slug-like people appeared in each work. The series took on its own life, and a convoluted narrative seemed to connect the works. I then used these drawings as templates for paintings in January 2024.

Machines that Breathe

A series that tows the line between figurative and abstract work. The paintings begin with using oil stick to draw on canvas. As soon as a line begins to create something representational, it is forced towards abstraction.

Portraits

Paintings of friends and moments from my favorite movies using photographs as a reference.
