Cecil Mural Project-Bethesda, MD

At the beginning of the summer in 2024, I was hired by the real estate development company JLB to paint two murals inside of their newly constructed apartment building in Bethesda, MD called the Cecil building. Prior to beginning the painting process, I was tasked with digitally designing the two murals to reflect the brand identity of Cecil, and emphasize the aspects that make it  the ideal place to live in the D.C. area. I was given brand-guidelines, along with samples of images of the interior of the space. From the information provided, I gathered that JLB wanted the Cecil building to be a living environment that supplies balance between a cozy neighborhood fit for a family, with the backdrop of city life. I chose a design strategy that achieved a blend of both traditional and modern elements as the combination of the two established a familiar and inviting setting, while also displaying a sense of originality. I worked on these two murals for a month from the end of August to the end of September. Due to the fact that the building is under construction until November, I have not had the chance to have the works professionally photographed in the finished living space. Below I have included images of the murals, along with information on their measurements and materials.

OVME “Self-Care” Mural- Washington D.C.

In May of 2023, the medical aesthetics company OVME commissioned me to create a large mural for the front of their storefront in DC’s West End near Georgetown. They wanted the mural to highlight the brand’s core values which include self-empowerment, embracing femininity as a source of strength, and self-love. In order to create this mural, I painted the image using ink and paper on a small scale. I then scanned my painting, and transferred it to a digital art software called Procreate. I made adjustments to the marks, added color and text, and scaled the artwork so that it would fit their desired forty-six by 10 foot space. They then used the digital file I created to produce a large vinyl banner that has a permanent home on the front of their store.

Kured “Around the Corner” Mural- New York

At the beginning of 2023, I was hired to paint a mural for the interior of the Kured store in New York. Kured is a charcuterie business that collaborates with artists in a variety of ways including clothing design, selling work inside stores, and commissioning murals. I began painting the mural a week prior to the opening of the store so that it would be ready for viewing when the business was up and running.

Kured “Dragon Family” Mural- Boston

My first Mural Project was for a store on Charles Street in Boston called Kured at the beginning of the summer of 2021. The mural was made with spray paint and acrylic on 4 separate wood planks that were 4x6 ft each. The mural was inspired by continuous color block doodle graphics that I was painting on 1/1 Air Force ones at the time, and also the dragons that can be found on many of the hoodies I was making in 2021.

Breaktime “Rainbow Kingdom” Mural- Boston

Breaktime is a non-profit organization based in Boston that works to break the cycle of youth homelessness. They do this by offering transitional employment, professional skills training, and financial empowerment. I was happy to do a mural for this awesome organization at the end of the summer in 2021. I bought seven buckets of paint, and with a stream of consciousness I fit as many cartoon figures as I could in the 7x10 ft space.
